- Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
"Al Singer, the Bronx, punched a few more holes in Stanislaus Loayza, tough old warhorse of the lightweight division in a sensational free-for-all battle here tonight. The Jewish lad, hailed as another Benny Leonard, won the 10 round decision with ease. He belted the rugged Loayza freely, knocked him down for a count of nine in the 3rd round, and was himself in danger only once. After absorbing enough punishment to stow away most of the current lightweights, Loayza finished a dogged rally in the 10th, but the sting had been drawn from most of his punches. The big crowd gave Loayza a wild ovation as he left the ring. There was no question as to the verdict, Singer winning every round but the 2nd which was even and the 10th, when the Chilean warrior gained the edge." -Associated Press
