"Alan Minter of Britain knocked down Sandy Torres with a jarring right hand, then stopped him in the 5th round Wednesday night with a barrage of head punches that had the Puerto Rican helpless. The middleweights were exchanging head punches in the 5th round when Minter, the world's 5th ranked contender, beat Torres to the punch with a right to the jaw that dropped Torres. He got up and took an eight-count but could not hold Minter off. Just as referee Buddy Basilico jumped in to stop the fight, Torres pitched to the canvas at 1:57 of the 5th round." -Associated Press
