In 1943 Bombardier Albert William Love was captured and held in a Japanese PoW camp. There he risked his life to steal eggs for sick comrades, also giving them half his meagre rations. When he himself caught beri-beri, he was too weak to fight it and died, aged 32. Son of William and Amelia Love, of Cardiff; husband of Gwendoline Flora Love, of Grangetown, Cardiff.
