Lovell staged a late rally to outpoint Rosenbloom. A bad cut through his left eyebrow, blinded Rosenbloom in the last two rounds. Referee Charley Randolph approached Rosenbloom, as if to stop the bout, but was pushed aside by Maxie. Rosenbloom struggled through the last two rounds, as he jabbed Lovell enough to avoid being stopped.
