Alberto Silva, 22, died on October 9, 1945 of injuries sustained in his October 8 bout at Ocean Park Arena, against 1945 Los Angeles Golden Gloves Featherweight champion Felix Miramontes, who was making his pro debut. Silva was still on his feet when the bout was stopped by referee Jimmy Wallace, on the grounds that Silva had taken too many blows to the heads. He was pronounced dead less than 24 hours later at General Hospital.
