"Argentina's Alex Miteff, the 1955 Pan-Am King, stopped Philadelphia's Fernando Fala on cuts in two rounds Monday night at St. Nicholas Arena. Fala, who had a 17-1 record and had won six straight, had two deep, wide cuts over his right eye requiring 15 stitches. Referee Barney Felix stopped the slam-bang scrap after the second round ended, at the suggestion of Dr. Sam Swetnick." -Associated Press

• After Miteff's last fight against Willi Besmanoff, Matchmaker Teddy Brenner announced he would be matching Miteff against Bob Baker on this July 8th date. However, Brenner could not come to terms with the Baker camp and signed Fala on June 28th.

• Although Floyd Patterson had not yet defended his title against 'Hurricane' Jackson scheduled for July 29th, his next title defense against Pete Rademacher in Seattle was already committed to. However, Matchmaker Teddy Brenner attempted to sign Rademacher - who had never fought a pro fight - for Alex Miteff.
