Bout Summary
6'8" Alexander Ustinov of Minsk, Belarus, a K-2 fighter who at the time of this bout was the WBC's # 6 heavyweight contender, went to 21-0, 16 kayos and retained the EBA version of the European heavyweight title with a 12 round decision over 39 year old Paolo Vidoz of Italy, a former EBU titleholder. Ustinov used heavy jabs and appeared to win every round but the eighth, won by Vidoz scoring jabs and left hooks. Ustinov was bleeding from the nose during rounds four and six. Vidoz was warned several times for low blows from the tenth round on, holding a lot as the bout turned dirty. Vidoz, 26-9, 15 kayos, a loser of five of his last six bouts, tried to throw some heavier blows over the last two rounds and landed a few, but it was too late.
