Hannaberry was contracted to fight George Cook in January of 1927 and was waiting to go on when Cook announced he would not fight as the "house" was too small. Cook's wife refused to let him go on unless he was paid 100 pounds in cash first. The minimum price for admission was five shillings and the amount taken at the turnstiles was 135 pounds. The bout was cancelled.
