As an amateur, Porzio was the South American Heavyweight Champion in Buenos Aires, CF, Argentina, in 1923. He won the Heavyweight Bronze Medal for Argentina at the 1924 Olympics in Paris, France.
After his retirement, Alfredo Porzio and his brother Tino were managers of many of the greatest Argentinian fighters, as Eduardo Lausse, Rafael Merentino, Atilio Caraune, Rinaldo Ansaloni, Ricardo Gonzalez, Alfredo Bunetta, Rogelio Andres Miguel Rodriguez and Jose Santiago.
