Jose Rafael Aviles passed himself off as Tuzo Portuguez to secure the fight. Following his surprise first round knockout loss, the fight was investigated and Aviles subsequently arrested on fraud and obtaining money ($255) under false pretenses charges.
District Judge Howard C. Kline sentenced Aviles to 1-5 years in state prison, but then paroled Aviles for two years. Aviles was forced to pay $110 for costs and parole fees.
