Norwegian bantamweight Anders Haga had his 10th fight after debuting in 1957. (Record: 2 wins,5 losses,2 draws) Gerhardt Berkhout, Netherlands (2 wins 9 losses 1 draw) had met the Norwegian before, in Oslo, way back in 1958. That ended in a 6 round draw. This time it seemed that Berkhout were going to win after two aggressive opening rounds. Haga came on strong in the last four rounds with punches to the body which slowed down the Dutchman. The verdict went to Haga after 6 rounds.
Haga and Berkhout were to meet once more, in Oslo 1965, Haga again winning on points in a 6 round bout.
