Bout Summary
In the early rounds, both fighters exchanged spirited punches with Rodriguez occasionally connecting on a good right hand, but it was Berto who came out on top using his technical superiority and his quickness. The fight turned into a slug match though, with Berto allowing Rodriguez to dictate the tempo and still came out ahead. In the seventh round, the champion unleashed an uppercut that sent Rodriguez down for the first time in the round. He managed to beat the count, but was met with a flurry of shots by Berto that sent him down for the second time, forcing the referee to stop the bout.
