"Andy Ganigan, Honolulu, knocked out Juan Garcia of Chile in the 8th round of a scheduled 10 round lightweight fight at the Olympic Auditorium Thursday night. Ganigan won convincingly. He knockded down Garcia with a left hook in the 3rd round and again in the 5th round. In the 4th round Garcia staggered Ganigan with a straight right hand. Although Ganigan's knees buckled, he caught himself before he hit the canvas. Ganigan's record is 18-0 with 17 KOs." -United Press International

• The accompanying article stated that Garcia was the lightweight champion of Chile and that his record was 19-7 and that he recently lost his second decision to Jorge Morales (Kid Dinamita) and that he held a win in '75 over Victor Echegaray of Argentina. Echegaray's record indeed shows a loss to one Juan Francisco Garcia, the Chilean lightweight champion.
