"Andy Heilman, giving away 6 1/2 pounds to one of the world's best light heavyweights, Andy Kendall, scored a majority 10 round decision over the rugged Oregon battler in a blood-spattered brawl Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium before an estimated 4,500 fans. Heilman used a left jab to advantage and, at times, even outslugged the muscular Kendall in one of the best fights of the year here. Each fighter wound up with an eye leaking blood in the non-stop slugfest. There were no knockdowns despite the heavy cannonading." -The L.A. Times
