"Bobo Olson, the 36 year old one-time middleweight champ looked like the Bobo of old last night as he pounded out a unanimous 10 round decision over Andy Kendall of Scapoose, Oregon. Olson, who fights out of San Francisco, took a right to the head in the 1st round that slowed him down but dominated the proceedings from the second stanza on. He stayed inside his rangier opponent and pounded away with both hands." -United Press International
- Kendall suffered an ear injury in this bout that scuttled his July 19th bout with Chuck Leslie in Las Vegas. The bout, however, did go ahead with Johnny Carroll substituting for Kendall.
