"Andy Kendall of Portland knocked out Roger Rouse of Anaconda, Mont., Thursday night at the close of the 5th round of a scheduled 10 round light heavyweight bout in Multnomah County Exposition Center. Kendall, an 8-5 favorite, traded punches evenly with Rouse through much of the first four rounds. Kendall took command early in the 5th, staggering Rouse with a quick flurry and eventually sending him to the canvas with the only knockdown of the fight." -Associated Press
