- Garcia's corner got a surprise when the 2-8 Branch, sporting a Mr. T Mohawk haircut, came into the ring in the best fighting shape of his career and tried to win. After two even rounds, Garcia outboxed Branch in rounds three, four and five from the outside while moving around the edge of the ring. In round six, Branch took the fight to the inside, and went toe-to-toe with Garcia in center ring, looking for a knockout. However, Garcia slipped punches well, and landed his punches more frequently and accurately to win the exchanges and clearly win the bout.
