Angel Grela lost to Ronald Riedewald by TKO in round 6 of 8
- Date: 1964-06-18
- Location: Nordstrandhallen, Oslo, Norway
The Spaniard Angel Grela had his second fight, boxing under the Norwegian management of Leif " Baggis " Hansen. Opponent was the elegant Ronald Riedewald of Suriname/Netherlands. Grela rushed out and tried desperately to knock out the tall Riedewald as fast as possible. Riedewald kept his cool, and when Grela seemed to have lost all steam, Riedewald tried himself to win on a knockout. The brawling went on in the 2nd and 3rd round, Grela having a upper hand. Both men where tired in the 4th and didn't try to pick up the furious pace. In the 5th Grela used Riedewald as a punching bag, with hooks from both sides. In the 6th, Grela changed his style completly. In a classic upright style, he hit and hurt Riedewald again and again. The 3,000 spectators were in ecstasy, as suddenly Grela ran out of gas. Riedewald hit him with a one-two combination, and Grela retired from the bout, as the bell rang. It was a crowd-pleasing fight. The rather strange ending, didn't disappoint the crowd who cheered for many minutes.
