Angel Grela 165 lbs lost to Ronald Riedewald 160 lbs by TKO in round 3 of 8

  • Date: 1964-11-13
  • Location: Nordstrandhallen, Oslo, Norway
  • Spanish middleweight Angel Grela (75 kg), still fighting under Norwegian management, was eager to reverse his June loss to Ronald Riedewald (72,5 kg) of Suriname/Netherlands. They felt each other out carefully in the first round, obviously remembering their slugfest five months ago, when Grela retired in the 6th round. Grela hit Riedewald with combinations to the head and body in the second, only to be dropped by a lightning right. Most felt the bout was over, but Grela staggered up at eight, only to be floored again. At six, the bell saved him. Grela appeared to still be groggy when he went out for the 3rd round. Another right from Riedewald sent him into the ropes, where he gave up.

After the announcements, Grela's girlfriend entered the ring with flowers for her sweetheart. To the amusement of the crowd, Grela quickly overturned the bouquet to winner Riedewald.

This was Grela's last fight in Norway; he continued his career in Spain the following year, retiring as a heavyweight in 1970.
