"Armando Muniz retained his NABF welterweight boxing title Saturday night with an 8th round knockout of challenger Adolph Pruitt. The fighters, both weighing 145 3/4 pounds, stood toe-to-toe for seven rounds and were nearly even in scoring. But two minutes into the 8th round, Muniz landed a right-left combination that dropped Pruitt to the canvas. After he got up Pruitt told referee Dick young he had had enough." -Associated Press
- Due to the amount of fights he had recently taken part in as well as the amount of blows he took in this bout, the California State Athletic Commission ordered a 60 day rest period for Muniz. An order that was honored by the Arizona Commission who cancelled his upcoming December 22nd bout with David Oropeza in Tucson.
