Summary
"Veteran Eddie Perkins, 145 1/2, Chicago, gained the NABF welterweight title by outboxing heavy fisted Armando Muniz, 145 3/4, Anaheim, over 12 rounds at the Auditorium Arena before a crowd of 3,000 fans. Perkins was too crafty for Muniz and dominated the fight with his left jabs at long range while tying Muniz up inside. It was only in the last two rounds that Muniz was able to score with any effective punches. He stung Eddie with a hard left hook in the final round, but Perkins was able to tie him up, before he was able to follow up his advantage." -Boxing Illustrated, April 1973 issue
