  • Date: 1964-04-25
  • Location: Araneta Coliseum, Barangay Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
  • "41 year old Arthur Persley used his experience Saturday night to slug out a 10 round decision over Mario Rossito, 28, of Columbia. Persley won the verdict of the referee and one judge. The other judge called it even. Rossito, 138 1/2, the No. 1 junior welterweight contender, was bleeding from cuts over both eyes. Persley, 136 1/2, ranked No. 5 among the lightweights, had an ugly cut on his left eyebrow. There were no knockdowns, but both men were covered with blood from their cuts. Persley staggered the Columbian with a right uppercut to the jaw in the final round, but Rossito boxed his way out of trouble." -Associated Press
