  • Judge: John Poturaj

Weights: Gatti 130 lbs., Suero 132 lbs.

Notes

  • Fight was on the under card of Tony Thornton vs. Frank Minton and on the same night that the Chicago Bulls defeated the Phoenix Suns to claim their 3rd consecutive NBA Championship.
  • Suero took a knee at 1:41 of Round 3 after being hit with a left hook to the body. Grimacing in pain, he did not make it to his feet prior to the 10 count.

Comments

  • Despite his losing record, Christino Suero was a game fighter. He was active and also showed sound defensive skills against the favored Gatti. In the 3rd Round, however, Gatti began to land more solid power punches. Prior to the left hook to the body, Gatti also landed a solid right uppercut that likely contributed to Suero taking the knee.
