"Hard punching Tury Pineda, 129, Mexicali, Mexico, scored a 7th round knockout Thursday night over Hiroshi Nunose, 127, of Japan in their scheduled 10 round main event at the Olympic Auditorium. Nunose was helpless against the ropes when referee John Thomas stopped the fight at 2:32 of the 10th. Nunose had stayed on virtually even terms with Pineda for the first six rounds and opened a cut over the Mexican boxer's left eye in the 3rd. Pineda, however, staggered Nunose with a combination of blows in the 7th and was raining punches when the referee intervened." -United Press International
