Asbjørn Berg-Hansen is widely thought of as Norway's best Flyweight boxer to date. He became junior champion in 1933, and went on to take national titles in 1936, '37, '39, '40--when the second world war put a halt to championships, until 1946 and '47--when he took the title in Bantamweight-- 1948 & '50. Berg-Hansen also fought in 26 international championships (1934-50)--with 17 victories --and is the only boxer to have received the Norwegian Boxing Federation's gold watch for participation in 25 international championships, a record unlikely to ever be matched.

Berg-Hansen also participated in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he, after defeating Alf Russel (GBR), was ruled a surprising--and publicly unpopular--defeat against Lou Laurie (USA), who went on to take the bronze.

Berg-Hansen fought in excess of 300 amateur bouts, with fewer than 20 losses.
