Augie Arellano 155 lbs lost to Billy Colbert 165 lbs by SD in round 10 of 10

The fight was initially announced as a win for Colbert by the referee, as judge Campbell, who called the fight a draw, should have given round 7 to Colbert on a foul. Boxing commissioner Mason G. Kahn, who was at ringside, overruled the referee and declared the fight a draw.
On June 26 however, the boxing and wresting division of the Texas bureau of labor statistics, declared it upheld referee Bink West's original decision, stating that even the commission could not overrule a referee's decision on fouls.
Judge Davee, who scored the fight for Arellano, gave an incorrect account of the fight in the September 1940 Ring Magazine. He wrote that Arellano had punched Colbert all over the ring for 10 rounds and that commissioner Kahn eventually declared him the winner. Neither is confirmed by the newspaper report in the Galveston Daily News, which in fact reported that Colbert gave Arellano a lesson in boxing.
