Borge Krogh beat Leon Zadourian by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1966-02-03
  • Location: K.B. Hallen, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Borge Krogh of Denmark took one step closer to the European lightweight title held by French Maurice Tavant by outpointing Leon Zadourian of France over 10 rounds.

Zadourian, ranked nr 3 in Europe, had been stopped by Tavant in a title shot one year ago. In Copenhagen's KB- Hallen Zadourian repeatedly ran into Krogh's sharp counter punches. In the 6th Krogh cornered him and nearly knocked him out with a right to the jaw. However the Dane showed respect for the visibly stronger built Frenchman.

A frustrated Zadourian went after Krogh with his head first and got a warning in the 7th. By the 8th Zadourian more than ever announced his attacks with swinging lefts and rights. Krogh easily got under them and fired away at close range.

" He hit me only once, " Krogh told reporters from Berlingske Tidende. He added: " When a fight is going so well I could go on forever. Another 5 rounds wouldn't have bothered me at all. "

When asked why he didn't use his right hand more often, Krogh answered: " Better to use it twice than 25 times. "
