But immediately after a doctor's attention, the ex-champ of the world phoned Reno promoters that he would be ready to go Friday night." -Nevada State Journal
- This bout took place on May 17, 1939 and Risko had already penciled in a bout with Jack Hibbard on May 19th in Reno. However, Lloyd Marshall substituted in Reno and Risko never fought again.
- The Fairbanks Daily Miner reported that Risko was also down in the 5th round of this bout for a nine-count.
