"Baby Vasquez, lightweight champion of Mexico, scored a 10-round decision over Leo Alonzo of Manila at Stockton's Pacific Auditorium last night. Alonzo, weighing 137 1/4, took an early lead with his aggressive tactics and sharp punching, but after the 4th round the Mexican champ began scoring with hard blows to the body. Vasquez, who weighed 136 1/2, staggered the Filipino several times but there were no knockdowns." -International News Service
