Bakhyt Sarsekbayev (born November 29, 1981) is a Kazakhstani amateur boxer who won a gold medal in the welterweight (-69 kg) division at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. As well as at the 2006 Asian Games, where he won the gold medal.
Amateur career
The southpaw holds two wins over Cuban fellow southpaw and 2005 world champion Erislandy Lara. He won bronze at the 2002 Asian Games.
He won the 2006 World University Boxing Championships, at the Asian Games 2006 he beat Chinese boxer Hanati Silamu.
At the 2007 World Championships he beat Xavier Noël and Pan-Am champ Pedro Lima but was upset by old foe Silamu.
