"Barney Ross, Chicago, successfully defended his junior welterweight title tonight by taking a well-earned decision over Bobby Pacho of California. Starting out fast at the opening gong, Ross had piled up an almost insurmountable mountain of points before the 12 round bout was half over. The bout was not as lop-sided as the score indicated, however. Pacho landed almost as many blows as the champion, but they lacked sting. Pacho tired in the late rounds under the ceasless hammering of lefts and rights to the face and abdomen. But he never retreated a step and was still boring in at the final gong in a desperate attempt to wipe out his handicap in points by one solid blow which might send the champion to the canvas." -United Press
