Bout Summary
The opening round was largely a feeling out round as McGuigan came forward and tried to get on the inside. Orozco moved around and pumped a jab, followed with a straight left. In Round 2, McGuigan got Orozco against the ropes on several occasions and landed hooks to the head. A left hook, one of three or four he connected with in a row, to the side of the head sent Orozco to the mat. He did make it to his feet but was unable to beat the count of ten.
Quotes
- "I'm delighted it was over so early. It's good to have an early night now and again. I trained very hard for this one... I'd love to fight for the world title. The first opportunity I get, I'd love to jump in there and win it for these people, my family, and everybody. I feel it's my mission to do and I feel a world title may bring peace to this country and I hope it will." - Barry McGuigan in the post-fight interview.
