Battling Buster was the ring name of Raymond Kirkland. He was born in Miami in 1908 to James and Mary Kirkland. His father was originally from Jamaica and his mother from the Bahamas. It was reported in March 1934 that he had recently fought out of Nassau in the Bahamas and had died in a local hospital following a short illness.
