"The nation's 6th ranked lightweight, Paulie Armstead, finally met a Mexican fighter he couldn't handle. After 12 consecutive victories over boxers from south of the border, Armstead bowed Thursday night to Raymundo (Battling) Torres of Reynosa, Mexico, in 10 rounds of hard punching. It wasn't close. The 18 year old Mexican slugged it out and proved to have the stiffer punch. He staggered Armstead in the 7th, closed his right eye, and had the Compton boy bleeding from both eyes and nose through the 10th. The decision was unanimous." -Associated Press
