"Bennie Briscoe of Philadelphia, snapped Billy 'Dynamite' Douglas' string of nine straight victories with a TKO in the 8th round of a scheduled 12 round bout Monday night. Both fighters started cautiously but in the 2nd round Briscoe caught Douglas from Columbus, Ohio, with a short right that floored him for the mandatory eight count. Briscoe had closed the right eye of Douglas and was pounding him at will when referee Pete Tomasco stepped in at 2:42 of the 8th round." -United Press International
