"Bennie Briscoe of Philadelphia came from behind Monday night to score a split decision over Eddie Gregory in a 10 round bout before 5,000 at the Spectrum. Briscoe took a pounding for three rounds until later in the 3rd round when he scored a right hand that made a cut above Gregory's left eye which bled throughout the fight. Gregory came back strong in the 4th, 5th and 6th but the cut apparently slowed him down and Briscoe started head-hunting - a strategy that took its toll on the younger opponent, wearing him down." -United Press International
