- It was announced that Lynch would next defend his title against Jimmy Warnock in June. However, although the bout did take place, it was contested as a non-title bout.
- "I thought I had won, but I don't want to grouse or do any beefing. I would like to fight him again. I think I can beat him." -Small Montana
- "The trouble was that thousands of Scotsmen attended the fight and they cheered everything Lynch did. Once Lynch missed Montana twice and they cheered even that! I think Montana won." -Johnnie Rogers, Montana's manager.
- "If Lynch's next fight is broadcast, we shall ask for another commentator. People listening in in America and other countries might get quite a false impression and think that Lynch got a 'home town' decision." -Promoter George Dingley, commentating on what he felt was a biased radio broadcast.
"The flyweight boxing situation was considerably cleared today by the elimination of Small Montana, Filipino-American claimant of the title. Montana, who fights out of San Francisco and was recognized as champion of the division, was defeated last night by Benny Lynch of Scotland in 15 rounds before 13,500 spectators in Wembley Stadium. Montana lost his hope for world recognition in one of the most even and hard fought matches ever witnessed in England. Lynch's rugged aggressiveness in the final round swung the decision. The two little men stood toe-to-toe in the 15th and let go. Lynch got the better of it and the referee's nod." -United Press
