Bernard Docusen vs. John L. Davis (2nd meeting)
Bernard Docusen 146 lbs lost to John L Davis 136 lbs by TKO at 0:08 in round 3 of 12
- Date: 1950-10-31
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
- Referee: Johnny Indrisano
"John L. Davis, Oakland, Calif., is still state welterweight champion today because Bernard Docusen of New Orleans made a losing mistake in strategy. Docusen won the 1st round of their 12-round title fight at the Olympic Auditorium last night by a slight margin by virtue of flicking lefts and rights to the head. But in the 2nd he chose to slug toe-to-toe, and that led to a 3rd round TKO by Davis. Davis dropped Docusen with a left to the head near the end of the 2nd round. He staggered to his feet during an eight-count but another left downed him again, the bell saving him. As he came out for the 3rd, Davis swarmed all over Docusen with lefts and rights. The New Orleans boy reeled into the ropes and the referee stopped the fight." -Associated Press
