Wilders had previously retired from boxing, despite having accepted an offer to fight Dunne for the then vacant IBC Super Bantamweight Championship. (Wilders was replaced by Sean Hughes.)
Dunne had Wilders on the back foot in every round, and from the 3rd round on picked off his opponent at will. Wilders finally went down in the 6th after Dunne landed a trademark left to the body (Wilders took an 8 count). Dunne backed Wilders onto the ropes only seconds later and, after sending him down with a barrage of unanswered punches, Referee David Irving stopped the fight.
