Bill Regan, a former professional boxer himself during the 1930s, became a distinguished referee in Florida. He officiated over bouts involving future Hall-of-Famers Jake LaMotta, Willie Pep, Carlos Ortiz, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Patterson and Ingemar Johansson.
He also served as boxing coach at the University of Miami.
