"Billy Conn's first rap at the door of heavyweight fame was an 8th round TKO of Gus Dorazio last night. Conn hung up his light heavyweight title and barged into the heavyweight division at a 13-pound weight disadvantage and laced Dorazio good and proper. Referee Leo Houck stopped the scheduled 10-rounder after 1:52 of the 8th round with blood streaming from a cut over Dorazio's left eye. One of Conn's lightning-like jabs opened the cut in the 6th. Dorazio was simply no match for Conn who piled up a big lead on points before the end. Gus concentrated on a body attack, but except for a right-hand to the head in the 2nd, Conn was never hurt." -Associated Press
