According to the Feb. 22, 1918 Everett Daily Herald (Everett, WA, USA), Madden had died the day before of acute indigestion in New York City. He reportedly had been the former manager of Nonpareil Jack Dempsey, John L. Sullivan, and Jack McAuliffe. The Ogden Standard reported that he was 65, and had once been the bare-knuckle Lightweight World Champion. [1]
