Peacock avenged a 1954 stoppage loss to 1952 Olympic Gold Medalist Brooks, with a clean first round kayo. Early in the round, a right hand to the head knocked down Brooks for a nine-count. Peacock proceded to pound the retreating Brooks to the head and body, before catching him with a left-right combo that floored him for referee Jimmy Wilson's ten count at 2:30 of the 1st round. The loss, was the sixth in a row for Brooks, and third straight by stoppage.
