Billy Seward was from Ingomar, Montana originally. He was born in 1917 and turned professional in 1938. According to the Ring Magazine: July 1941, p. 61, in the "Chicago News" section, he had had 34 bouts prior to his fight with Harvey Dubs, wining 20 by knockout. As of 1941, he was back in Ingomar, where he owned the Jersey Lily saloon.


While based in Chicago during his boxing career, Seward was managed by Jack Hurley. Seward's boxing career was cut short when he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II.- Chuck Johnston
