Bjarne Lingaas beat Andre Wyns by PTS in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1965-12-28
  • Location: Messehallen, Oslo, Norway
  • Norwegian heavy hope Bjarne Lingaas won 4 of the 6 rounds against Belgian veteran Andre Wyns. The Norwegian was groggy in the 1st and down for an 8- count in the 2nd. Again in the 5th, Lingaas was down from a right. But Wyns took large amounts of leather in order to land these 3 big punches.

"Not satisfied," was Lingaas' short commentary to the press afterwards. Newspapers now began to doubt if the likable gentleman Lingaas was merciless enough to make it big. As amateur he had gained lot of respect in the general sports public for his dislike for KO'ing opponents.
