"Heavyweight Bob Baker, 221, Pittsburgh, won a split decision over Billy Gilliam, 209, Orange, N.J., tonight in the 10-round main event at the Duquesne Gardens. It was Baker's third decision over Gilliam and the second since he hit the comeback trail in recent months after nursing a pair of injured hands. Baker's face was covered with blood as he came out of his corner for the final round, and he showed signs of being winded." -Associated Press
