- Location: Valley Arena, Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA
- Referee: Joe Cashman
- Judge: Dan Hamel
- Judge: Ernie Wakefield
"Jeff Dyer's drive for recognition in the heavyweight wars has been reversed at the hands of 8th ranked Bob Baker of Pittsburgh. Dyer was no match for the experienced Baker and dropped his first decision, a unanimous 10 round verdict, before a sellout crowd at the Valley Arena Monday night. Dyer opened up early in the bouton Baker, but the know-how Baker had gained in 57 bouts began telling in the 2nd round and he had no trouble thereafter. The Pittsburgh slugger won 8 of the 10 rounds from all three ring officials." -United Press
