Bob Baker 224 lbs beat Levi Bryant 214 lbs by TKO at 2:56 in round 3 of 10

  • Date: 1951-04-02
  • Location: Duquesne Gardens, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
  • Referee: Buck McTiernan

"Bob Baker, 224, Pittsburgh, methodically hammered Levi Bryant, 214, New York, into submission in 2:56 of the 3rd round of their scheduled 10 round main event at the Gardens. Referee Buck McTiernan wisely halted the bout when Bryant arose after a five count and stood leaning against the ropes in a dazed condition. Big Bob refused to be suckered in by Bryant who likes to bore in and whale away at the body. Instead the local boy back-pedaled in a methodical fashion and continuously poured on six and eight inch lefts and rights to the head and body of his opponent. Bryant went down from a flurry of blows, and it is hard to tell which hand possesses the most dynamite." -Ring Magazine, June 1951 issue
