Bob Pastor 183 lbs beat Lee Ramage 197 lbs by TKO at 2:25 in round 9 of 10

  • Date: 1938-05-10
  • Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
  • Referee: Charley Randolph

"Bob Pastor, New York heavyweight, won a TKO victory over Lee Ramage of San Diego, Cal., last night at the Olympic Auditorium, although he was unable to knock his opponent to the canvas even once. Pastor clearly outclassed Ramage and was beating him at will through most of the bout, which had been scheduled for 10 rounds. Ramage, once a ranking, clever boxer, was helpless and unable to avoid the rush of the New Yorker, although he outweighed Pastor by 14 pounds. The referee halted the bout when Pop Foster, Ramage's manager, threw in the towel after 2:25 of the 9th. Foster said after the bout he would advise Ramage to retire." -United Press

  • Although advised to call it quits, Ramage actually went on to compete in two more bouts before packing it in for good.
