Bob Satterfield 186 lbs beat Paul Andrews 185 lbs by KO at 2:02 in round 9 of 10

"Bob Satterfield of Chicago, 5th ranking light heavyweight, knocked Paul Andrews of Buffalo through the ropes and out with a stunning right cross high on the head at 2:02 of the 9th round of a scheduled 10 round heavyweight battle here tonight. After a slow eight rounds, Satterfield finally caught Andrews in a corner, stunned him with a sharp left hook to the jaw, and clubbed him with a series of vicious lefts and rights. Andrews' hands dropped and he sagged into the ropes helpless. Satterfield landed the right and Andrews spun around, dropped over the middle strand and slipped through to the apron of the ring. Referee Lou Scozza counted him out there." -Associated Press

  • As he had already beaten both fighters, both Satterfield and his manager Ike Bernstein demanded the right to meet the winner of the following evening's bout between Bob Baker and Nino Valdez with the winner to meet Rocky Marciano for the title.
